WERCSmart is a supply chain security management system designed and developed by The WERCS Corporation for medium and large retailers to enable: unified and effective management of a large supplier network and products; security assessment of target and existing products for easy screening. A retail program developed specifically for retailers to quickly and easily access accurate compliance and sustainability data. The program provides a secure, intuitive way for suppliers to submit the key product and chemical composition data needed to compile a complete set of hazard communication data, delivering supplier-registered product information directly to retailers. Such an authoritative audit and identification process makes it easier and more convenient for suppliers and retailers to work together, and suppliers registered with WERCSmart are undoubtedly ideal for retailers to purchase from.
The Wercs, a provider of green supply chain systems and chemical regulatory response software, offers software packages that play an important role in helping customers manage product information and communicate hazard information.
Retailers with whom The Wercs has confirmed partnerships include Wal-Mart, OReily, Costco, Sears/K-Mart, Rite Aid and others, requiring all of their suppliers to register their products on WercSmart.
Why Register for WERCSmart
Retailers and other participants in the WERCSmart process are facing increasingly complex federal, state and local regulatory compliance challenges when selling, shipping, storing or disposing of products. The data contained in the safety data sheets (SDSs) provided with products often does not contain sufficient information to comply with these regulations, and WERCSmart provides retailers and other participants with the data needed to comply with these regulations.
Retailers that currently work with WERCSmart include Wal-Mart, Amazon, Traget, O'Reilly, Costco, Sears, K-Mart, Rite Aid and others, and require all of their suppliers to register their products on WercSmart.

Battery WERCSmart registration
Battery WERCSmart registration is divided into two modes:
1. Registration of batteries that are not sold directly to retailers
This battery is only installed in other electronic products to use, and this electronic product as a separate brand sales. This battery does not have a UPC/GTIN code and is registered by the battery supplier to the WERCSmart system for use by other electronic product suppliers when linking battery information during registration.
Main information requirements:
MSDS documents (including model, capacity, weight, voltage, 100% composition list, CAS number of each component, form, color, odor, shipping method, and hazard protection measures, etc.)
2. Registration of batteries sold directly to retailers
This battery has a UPC/GTIN code and is registered to the WERCSmart system, which will pass the relevant information to the lower level retailer specified at the time of registration.
WERCSmart registration for electronic products containing batteries
The registration of electronic products containing batteries requires two steps:
1. The battery supplier first registers the battery information on the WERCSmart system and adds the battery supplier's name to the WERCS battery supplier list (if there are multiple different battery suppliers, they should be registered independently)
2. The supplier of electronic products to register this electronic product, the steps to select the battery information contained in the list will find the battery supplier, and link the battery information.
From this we can see that the MSDS control for electronic products containing batteries is still for the battery.
Main information requirements:
MSDS document, shipping method, UPC code, packaging method, weight (oz), the name of the designated retailer, retailer contact phone and email, qualified supplier ID number (O'Reily, Sears/K-Mart, Wal-Mart/SAM'S CLUB required)
WERCSmart registration for other products
1. WERCSmart edited SDS files are required for products sold under retailer brands
2. In addition to the information contained in the general MSDS file, liquid products generally need to provide information on water specific gravity, PH value, boiling point, flash point, personal protective measures (mask, gloves, apron, goggles), auto-ignition temperature, minimum auto-ignition energy (mJ), dissolved water/oil ratio, viscosity factor).
3. For OTC and nutritional products need to provide product nameplate (PDF format)
