CE certification stands for CE mark, which is located on the back of certain products sold in the European Economic Area (EEA) and the European Union (EU). Literally, CE is an abbreviation of the French phrase meaning "European Conformity". When the CE seal is placed on the back of a product, the mark indicates that the product can be distributed in the EU and EEA.

It is well known that no matter whether the products are produced within the EU or in other countries, if they want to circulate freely in the EU market, they must be CE certified and affixed with the EU "CE" mark. Among them, many products have relative to the requirements of the Directive, such as pressure equipment CE certification (PED), explosion-proof CE certification (ATEX), noise CE certification (ND) and so on. So for general products without special requirements we can do what the directive certification?

Anyone involved in the commercial development or quality assurance of products for the EU market will certainly be aware of the specific directives covering their products. As the latest technology develops, all industries and new products emerge, it is feasible that goods will begin to fall outside the scope of specific directives, or that goods not initially intended for consumer use will begin to be used by consumers. In these cases, the General Product Safety Directive (GPSD) 2001/95 EC applies.

The GPSD is the safety net used to protect the health and safety of all consumers and applies to all new and used goods in the region that do not fall under their own industry-specific regulations but are available for consumer use (whether or not they are actually used) Are suitable for consumers.

IV. Revision of the GPSD Directive

The European Commission has identified the need to improve the EU's general product safety regime. From 2009 to 2011, the Commission conducted a number of public consultations on revising the GPSD. The Directive also supplements some of the provisions not covered by the special product regulations, such as those relating to producer responsibility and the rights and obligations of competent authorities.
