The new European ErP (Energy-Related Products, Energy Efficiency Directive) Standby power consumption Regulation (EU) 2023/826 was officially published on April 18, 2023, entered into force on May 9, 2023, and will be mandatory from May 9, 2025.

  Major changes in new regulations

1. Covers the maximum energy consumption requirements of various electrical and electronic devices in off mode, standby mode and networked standby.

2. Repeal the old EU Standby Power Regulation (EC) 1275/2008 and Regulation (EC) 107/2009 on Ecodesign Requirements for simple set-top boxes.

3. The lower limit of the limit in standby and off mode remains at 0.50 watts, and the lower limit of the limit in off mode is increased to 0.30 watts from 2027-05-09.

4. Standby power consumption limit of devices with display shall not exceed 0.80 watts. Tumble dryers must not exceed 1.00 watts.

5. The standby power consumption of network connected products with HiNA function cannot exceed 8.00 watts, and the standby power consumption without HiNA function cannot exceed 2.00 watts.

6. Expand product range:

Remove the exemption in the old regulations for devices powered by a low-voltage external power supply.

Remove washing machines and dishwashers, which are separately defined in Regulations (EU) 2019/2023 and (EU) 2019/2022.

New beverage preparation machine, curling iron and other hair care equipment.

Added requirements for devices such as printers and game consoles.

Include simple set-top box and complex set-top box product categories.

Contains adjustable furniture, as well as electric shutters, doors, Windows and similar products.

According to the EU Ecodesign Directive 2009/125/EC, products that do not meet the new requirements will not be allowed to be placed on the EU market.
